"To live is to suffer; to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering."~Friedrich Nietzsche

Day 7 ~ Commander Michael Sheppard

"A week has passed, and the toll on the crew is palpable. The struggle isn't merely due to scarcity of food, clean water, or the harsh environment. What weighs on our hearts is the growing makeshift graveyard, a somber reminder just a short distance from our camp. Each day, it expands with fresh markers. The challenge now is to uphold their spirits, to convince them to hold on - for the promise of a better future, for the chance of rescue, for the flicker of hope. Yet, my resolve wavers. Our situation grows direr. We are in dire need of assistance!"

Welcome to Vanished..

In the year 2396, the USS Phoenix, commanded by Rear Admiral Terrence "Terry" Mitchell, was on the brink of decommissioning. Despite being severely understaffed and ill-equipped, the Phoenix received an unexpected assignment before retirement - overseeing a crucial diplomatic conference in the Tasoli Nebula. This event was meant to be the pinnacle of Admiral Mitchell's career, marking the final mission for the esteemed Diplomatic vessel. However, fate had different plans, and the course of the Phoenix's crew was forever altered. Shortly after entering the Nebula, an unstable and unfamiliar wormhole engulfed the Phoenix, causing significant damage due to the debris of doomed ships within.

Emerging from the wormhole, the Phoenix found itself adrift, devoid of power, and with minimal life support. Compounding the dire situation, sensor readings revealed that the ship had been transported to the far reaches of the Delta Quadrant. Facing imminent danger as the ship was drawn toward a colossal M-class moon nearby, Mitchell had little time to react. In a swift but agonizing decision, he ordered the emergency separation of the saucer and stardrive sections. The aim was to give those in the saucer section a slim chance of surviving a crash landing while sacrificing the non-aerodynamic stardrive section. With the stardrive portion floating aimlessly in space, the saucer section embarked on a turbulent journey to the planet, marked by violence and upheaval.

Amidst the loss and tragedy, the newly promoted Commander Michael Sheppard emerged as a leader. Guiding a small group of survivors, he led their efforts to establish a new life in their tropical haven.

Given a chance to retire on a high note the Phoenix, while seriously understaffed and ill-equipped, is ordered to the Tasoli Nebula to oversee a Diplomatic conference. Billed as the high point of Admiral Mitchell's career, the diplomatic conference is to be the last mission for the ship and her Admiral; both set to retire. Fate however intervened, and the crew of the Phoenix would never the same.
