History

Personal History Emily was born in New York to her father James Reagan and mother Lily Reagan. Her father was in the service of Starfleet within the marine corp and sadly was not at all a very present figure in her life for long spells. However, her mother was a primary school teacher, a greatly respected member of the community in which they lived and Emily was grateful to have at least one parent to rely upon. Years later a little sister arrived, Amelia, and Emily was happy to have someone else to play with, to talk to and sometimes forget the troubles that were beginning to brew at home.

James had been in the marines long since before Emily was even a blip on the radar. Both Emily and Amelia missed their father as they only got the chance to see him when he was home on leave. This grew to be a much coveted time as he would take them out camping, hiking, hunting to name but a few and they loved it. To see the kind of things their father could do, he was like Superman to them and their bond only grew stronger with him each time he returned home.

Schooling was fine, for both the girls, with no major upsets to note and the occasional temper tantrum when they didn’t get what they wanted. Emily’s rather stubborn and petulant nature was more so than Ameila’s but was often kept in check by her mother. Often with a comment how she was more like her father than she’d have liked.

As Emily grew older she became more aware of the strain that her fathers absence was putting on their mother. She was angrier, her temper a lot shorter and the smell of alcohol could be smelled on her breath on too many occasions to count.

Sometimes Emily would put a blanket over her mother on the couch and remove the glass of wine from her hand before she went to bed herself. As such she found herself taking more care of her little sister than she should have had to do. When Emily would try to talk to her mum she wouldn’t hear of it, accusing her of lying. There were also times where accidents would happen, Emily or Amelia, Emily would take the blame and sometimes take a couple of hits just to protect her younger sibling.

When James came home it seemed he couldn’t wait to leave again. Their camping trips never seemed to happen, no hiking trails, nothing.

At night Emily could hear her parents fighting when they thought their girls were sleeping. Sometimes Emily would creep out to listen and hear the most vile things said to each other. Lily’s drinking never helped the situation and James’ stubborn streak and Irish temper wrapped up the powderkeg that was their relationship at that time. One night Emily walked in to try and stop them by crying, pleading with them to stop. It made a difference that night but the next day her dad was gone. He'd left on 'assignment'.

Getting to see their father proved harder. Their time apart was longer and their correspondence limited at best. Her parents' relationship was falling apart and it was showing in ways that it probably shouldn’t.

When Emily was 10 she heard from her mother that her dad was having an affair. She practically spat it at her through merlot coloured teeth and looked to take some joy in the fact she was destroying Emily’s image of her superhero, her father.

Within 6 months Lily and James divorced and the girls stayed with their mother.

It was the best of bad worlds and truthfully with them being underage a judge wouldn’t have ruled them go with James due to his lifestyle, adultery and career.

Emily changed nearly overnight. A once happy go lucky child, doing well in school had been struggling for months under the weight of her mothers alcoholism and her fathers absence. Now he was the villain. She didn’t want to talk to him, hear about him, or look at him. Ever.

The divorce stopped contact because he chose it and he didn’t just leave their mother, he left them to deal with his bad choices. Her heart was broken. Yes, there were still the special occasion messages, but they’d become awkward and unwanted. She took them out of pity.

Then when Emily was 12 her mother met someone new.

Police Officer Gerard Bond.

With him came two of his own sons and one daughter.

Emily didn’t like the idea of someone replacing her dad, even if he was a colossal jackass in her eyes. It was too soon and she felt Bond was trying to take over the house with all these rules. She was civil to him at the beginning but when he moved in it was a whole different ball game. It was his law, her mother just agreeing with him and letting him do things in THEIR house as if it were his own.

When Emily turned 13 her mother and Gerard announced their engagement, much to Emily's annoyance and she started to skip school a bit more, was more outspoken and had been getting into fights with her classmates. Lily had tried her best to speak to Emily, try and get into Emily's heart but she felt she had betrayed her and Amelia. Signed them up for a hell with this man she barely knew and expected them to sit and take it. She was torn, confused and angry.

Emily managed to get into Lily’s wine on more than one occasion, Gerard’s spirits too. There was one night she drank too much vodka and scratched Gerad’s vintage Mustang. He was so angry he actually struck her across the face with so much force it left a searing red mark. He denied it profusely to Lily who ended up siding with him as Emily’s behaviour had been nothing short of sickening lately in her eyes. Lying, stealing, drinking and skipping school, even fighting! She didn’t recognise her anymore. Even the fighting between them had increased.

Still throughout all this she stood by her real sister, Amelia. She would let nothing happen to her. Not cruelty from Gerard, her mother or their step siblings. This caused a few more bruises and unexplained bloodied shirts on both Emily and them.

Several times over the course of the year she was picked up by Gerard when she was found, somehow, being drunk and disorderly in public and at times found smoking in school. They never did find out how she was getting all this stuff. At one point her mum even accused her of sleeping with someone to get all of it.

When news of their wedding date had been set they wanted nothing more than to ship Emily off and out of sight. They thought she’d made a scene and they were probably right as things had only escalated in recent months. Emily had tried to interfere with their relationship one time too many and sent her to stay with Jimmy for the duration of their wedding and honeymoon. Emily was more than fine with the separation but had tried to get on another transport as she didn't want to spend much time with her father either.

Sadly the end result was that she was put on the Phoenix with her father. The icy relationship was nice and as awkward as expected but she was to stay with him until his mission with the Admiral was to end. Little did she know the outcome would be one of the worst she could expect.
