The Sim

Simm History

In the distant year of 2396, the time had come for the USS Phoenix, commanded by Rear Admiral Terrence "Terry" Mitchell, to be retired from service. Despite being seriously understaffed and lacking proper equipment, the Phoenix received an unexpected final assignment before decommissioning: overseeing a Diplomatic conference within the challenging Tasoli Nebula. This conference was meant to be the pinnacle of Admiral Mitchell's career, serving as the grand finale for the diplomatic vessel. However, destiny took an unexpected turn, forever altering the course of the Phoenix's crew.

Shortly after entering the Nebula, an unstable and unfamiliar wormhole trapped the Phoenix, subjecting it to a maelstrom of debris from other unfortunate ships. This cosmic vortex inflicted severe damage upon both the Phoenix and its crew. Emerging from the wormhole, the Phoenix found itself adrift in space, devoid of power and equipped with only minimal life support. To exacerbate the situation, sensor readings revealed that the vessel had been transported to the far reaches of the Delta Quadrant.

Facing the dire threat of being drawn into the gravitational pull of a massive Class M moon nearby, Mitchell had scant moments to react. Urgency pressed upon him as he swiftly ordered the saucer and stardrive sections of the ship to be emergency-separated. This risky maneuver aimed to give those aboard the saucer section a fighting chance at surviving a potentially catastrophic crash landing. Although heart-wrenching, Mitchell's decision was driven by necessity; he chose to preserve the civilian-heavy saucer section's potential for survival, even at the cost of sacrificing those within the less aerodynamic stardrive section.

With the stardrive section cast adrift in the cosmos, the saucer section embarked on a tumultuous journey towards the nearby planet. The voyage, however, was far from smooth, marked by violent turbulence that tested the endurance of both the crew and the vessel itself. The crash upon reaching the planet's surface claimed the lives of many, leaving the survivors to navigate the aftermath under the newfound leadership of Michael Sheppard. Following the loss of most of the Senior Staff in the crash, Sheppard was compelled to assume command, guiding the stranded, isolated, and fearful crew in their struggle for survival upon the tropical haven they aptly named Perdita.
